Buddhist Monks Go Viral After Winning E-Sports Tournament in Thailand
A group of immature Buddhist monks went viral final week after reportedly winning an e-sports tournament at Khon Kaen Academy's Nong Khai campus in Thailand as part of the school's KKU Nong Khai Fair 2019. According to World of Buzz, the winner are seniors at a monk-training school called Balee Sathit Suksa in northeastern Thailand.
Talking to the media following the unexpected turn of events, Kokkiad Chaisamchareonlap, the academic coordinator cum head monk of the school, said that none was expecting them to really go on an win the tournament. "The novices wanted to try inbound the competition, so nosotros gave them that opportunity. Nevertheless, we didn't await them to actually win", he said.
The students are said to study just around 20-hours a week, with the balance of the time spent on traditional curriculum as office of their preparation to become Buddhist monks. As per Thai media, the youngsters were introduced to video games through a figurer class "which some of them took a liking to, and began training every day whenever they had the time".
Meanwhile, even though the young men have largely received praise from around the world, some within the country accept criticized them for wearing religious attire at the contest. "Usually I don't brand a big deal out of religious things, but I call back this is inappropriate. Information technology's not illegal nor is it extreme, merely I just feel like the monks should not have worn the robes to compete in the tournament", said i Twitter user, although their concerns were dismissed by Kokkiad every bit unreasonable.
